Rachel the Funny

Lindsey: I'll be going in to high school the year after next.
Rachel: What? You're not tall enough! When you go into high school, I'll switch you places.
Lindsey: And I would go into 2nd grade?
Rachel: Some of the high schoolers are like, as big as cars.

Which HP Kid Are You?

I am super excited for the next Harry Potter! I have been taking quizzes on Harry Potter. This is who I am: Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, and Professor McGonagal, all in different quizzes.

Harry Potter 6

I am super excited for the next Harry Potter to come out. I hope it is really good since it has been being worked on for more than 2 years. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting. And it is finally here... or will be here very soon!
It looks really good. I am surprised that it was rated PG, not PG-13, because it looks pretty scary. Here is the trailer.
I especially look forward to all the drama between boys and girls, especially when love potions become involved.

Summer

I am so glad school is finally out! 7th grade was not my favorite school year. I have lots of things planned this summer: I'm going up to Colorado to see the Sabey's and the Idaho to see the Bailey's (yeah!) and then Utah to see my cousins and SLC friends. I'm also giving Rachel piano lessons and Kimmer math lessons (she wants to skip the next level). I'm continuing piano and violin lessons (more time for practicing without homework) and hopefully doing swim team!

Baby Booties!

I am knitting Jane some baby booties, and they are doing well! I finished knitting the parts for the first bootie and the first part of the second bootie. Now I just need the second part of the second bootie.

It takes a long time to make booties. The first one took me at least 8 hours. So never knit unless you have mucho tiempo (a lot of time).

The booties are still too big for Jane. They are about the perfect size for a 1-year-old.

Grow, Jane! Grow!

The bootie is very cute, but very blank.
This little thing wouldn't take more than an hour to make, right?
Who would have thought that a big flat pattern would turn into cute little baby shoes?
The time-consuming process of knitting.
The (almost) finished project.

Warning: Only Knit While Under Adult Supervision. Knitting could result in injury or death.
I cut my finger knitting!

Cold Rainy Days

Yesterday was cold and rainy, which is really unusual for Tucson in April. Mom liked it, but not me! It was too cold, at least for me, the Tucson girl. The only way to deal with it was hot chocolate!

The First Supper

Saturday, April 11

Today I cooked a real dinner all by myself, with no help, motivation (besides hunger), clean-up support, or anything. I made a real dinner all by myself! We had biscuits, green beans, and chicken (and ice water). And it all turned out really well... except the chicken got cold and no one wanted to eat their green beans. But the water and biscuits were very successful!

I cleaned the kitchen, got dinner ready, set the table, cleared the table and re-cleaned the kitchen.

During dinner, I got several complaints, mostly about the green beans. "They're too stiff." "They don't taste good." I'm sorry, I put butter and salt in them, and they tasted good to me! So I had to bribe a little "If you eat all your green beans, you get dessert, which will be strawberry smoothies."

So everybody ate their green beans.

Haikus

We are now learning about haikus in Writing/Lit. Here are is a haiku I have written:
Sisters
Fighting. Arguing.
Complaining. Hurting. Yelling.
Helping. Loving. Friends.

Pride & Prejudice

I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It took me 2 1/2 months, but I did it! I have to admit that I didn't get into this book until the last 100 pages or so, so I'm not really credible for book-talking this, but I really did like it- it was just hard to understand. More of a 10th grade level or so... not something your average 7th grader picks up and finishes in 2 weeks.

I really liked how Mr. Darcy was so in love with Elizabeth that he didn't care if she hated him at the moment, that he would just try his hardest to get her to love him.

Sonnets

In Writing/Lit, we are learning about poetry. A few days ago, we talked about the a few different poem formats. We esspecially focused on sonnets. Mrs. Butler told us sonnets are the best ways to get what you want. (She also told the boys that they were one of the best presents, ways to get dates, etc.)
Then in Social Studies, we did research. On reforms. And one of the boys, Jake, sat where all the computer plugs were. He started pulling them out. Mine was pulled out. I told him to STOP. He said he would if I wrote him a sonnet. So here is my sonnet to him:

The Tree and the Bee
By Lindsey
There once was a tree.
A tree that grew pears.
And there once was a bee.
With fuzzy yellow hairs.

The tree of pears
Was very tall.
But the bee of hairs
Was very small.

The tree and the bee.
They made such a pair.
The tree and the bee.
I wish you could be there.

The tree and the bee.
Oh, gee.

My computer plug has not been pulled since.
